Faces

I have always known here to have to be very beautiful and this particular occasion i decided to focus on her eyes. I think she should be a model even though right now it may be the last thing on her mind.

Ok so coincidentally she is well dressed she comes visiting the office and without plans to take a picture we get right to it. The idea was to take attention to her eyes and leave the leave you readers wondering what lies beneath the veil... wishing you can see her full beauty.

I am not doing names here so if you know her then you do and if you don't then you don't. But can you truly identify her just by looking at her eyes? I don't think so. Otherwise Lagbaja would not be so mysterious.

She complained about her not being prepared for a picture. "I dont have any eyeliner on" she says that would really bring out her eyes. I prominsed to help add that with photoshop but I wanted you all to see the "before" before I display the "After" and then probably her full face. I think this eyes look "..............." enough even without the eyeliner.

Some say the veil should have been black. I say it can be any colour you want ans some say the picture would look better in black and white. I say seek first to get a good shot and all other things can be added unto it.
All in all I must say this model made my day and marks the begining of my photoblogging after all I am a Photographer.

My belief come true

I have believed for a long time that Nigeria will one day be a nation we can be proud of. Turns out I was right.

There exist today a club called NewNigeriaClub that will has started towards actualizing that dream. I am a member with all gains and no regrets.

What is NewNigeriaClub about?

Our Motivation

There is a lot of talk in Nigeria already about the prophecies of things to come… we don’t want to talk anymore, we want to start a bloodless revolution and cause change. A minority have earned us the reputation of being a corrupt nation, we need to recreate a new image for our country, internally and externally. We need to re-embrace and showcase positive values. A lot of money and energy that could otherwise be used in bettering our nation and economy leaves it everyday in the name of board based MLM, we can redirect some of these monies and energy for the good of our economy.

Our Objective

To Start a sustainable National Revolution This sustainable national revolution will involve creating a positive epidemic characterized by positive peer pressure, patriotism, personal and economic development.

Our Vision

To build a critical mass of 5,000,000 Nigerians who are actively involved in the building of the New Nigeria.

How do we intend to achieve this?

1. Create a New Nigeria in the Minds of Nigerians and the World.

2. Make Nation Building a Win-Win Proposition

3. Leverage on What Works

4. Use the Diffusion Model

How do we intend to achieve No 1?

Create a New Nigeria in the Minds of Nigerians and the World. The Birth of a Social Network of people who share in the New Nigeria Dream, agree to be bound by the values we pledge to, want it to happen in their lifetime and speak the same language – The New Naija Club *The New Nigeria Dream : A Nigeria that is value driven and prosperous. A Nigeria that is one of the most desirable places to live on earth. A land of opportunity, of freedom and of hope. A Land where the strong help the weak, where everyone

has the opportunity to be their best. A Nation that’s the envy of the world.

How do we intend to achieve No 2?

Make Nation Building a Win-Win Proposition. “The first glance at History convinces us that the actions of men proceed from their needs, their passions, their characters and talents; and impresses us with the belief that such needs, passions and interests are the sole spring of actions.”-George Hegel (1770 – 1831) Except the interest of the people is of primary concern, there can be no action!

The benefits for being a member of the club must be glaring and real. It must also address the people’s needs, passions, characters and talents.

How do we intend to achieve No 3?

Leverage on What Works.

In wikihow’s “how to start a revolution”, the second tip is “Use whatever tool you can”

One of the most effective tools in Nigeria today for spreading a positive epidemic is the network marketing model. Another very important tool is Information and Communication Technology (ICT). It’s a tool of the youth, and no matter how old you are, if you can use technology you are youth…and the converse applies.

How do we intend to achieve No 4?

Use the Diffusion Model.

Diffusion model: a detailed, academic way of looking at how a contagious idea or "product" or innovation moves through a population.

1. Innovators: “the adventurous ones” “Visionaries” Connectors, mavens, and salesmen make it possible for innovations to connect with the early adopters. They are translators: they make ideas and information from a highly specialized world and translate them into a language the rest of us can understand. They drop extraneous details and exaggerate other details so that the message itself acquires a deeper meaning.

2. Early adopters: the slightly larger group that is infected by the innovators or Visionaries.

3. Early Majority: the deliberate and the skeptical mass, who would never try anything until the most respected of this group try it first.

4. Late Majority

5. Laggards: the most traditional group that see no urgent reason to change.

Starting the Positive Epidemic!

TEMPO

1. Theme – The Message of the New Nigeria Club

2. Education /Reorientation: Take over the schools

3. Media Interaction : Be the NEWS

4. Proliferation: Make everyone infected an agent

5. Open System: Let it evolve, be open to ideas

Cardinal Points!

5 I’s

1. Image :Rebrand Nigeria internally and externally

2. Infect: Let people catch the vibe

3. Improve: Create better life for the people

4. Institute: Put systems in place to make it self driven

5. Inspire: Empower others to carry on

Early thoughts…

There is too much talk in Nigeria already about the prophecies of things to come… we don’t want to talk anymore, we want to start a bloodless revolution. We are securing the buy-in of our leaders, it’s not a fight against authority, it’s a quest to ask not what our country can do for us, but what we can do for our country.

We will fund reorientation seminars in every higher institution and every major city in Nigeria, North, East , West or South - South will not matter, we won’t do it ourselves, we will enlist the services of people who have been doing it at their own expense and have a passion for it. We will be a permanent feature in the Media, you’ll be proud to be associated with this club. We will grow like an epidemic and shock you with the bridging of ideas to action.

We will guarantee our members to do business where as a nation, we are perceived to be fraudulent. Saying I belong to the New Nigeria Club will mean, you have integrity! We will grow so big, our resolve as a network will change the direction of our nation.

The concept of Levers- a place to stand.

What must underlie successful epidemics, in the end, is a bedrock belief that change is possible, that people can radically transform their behaviour or beliefs in the face of the right kind of impetus. Tipping Points are a reaffirmation of the potential for change and the power of intelligent action. Look at the world around you. It may seem like an immovable, implacable place. It is not. With the slightest push; just in the right place; it can be tipped.

Glossary

Connectors: People with a special gift for bringing the world together, people specialists, Know lots of

people. Have an extraordinary knack of making friends and acquaintances, making social connections.

Have mastered the "weak tie"; a friendly, yet casual social connection. Manage to occupy many

different worlds and subcultures and niches. By having a foot in so many different worlds, they have

the effect of bringing them all together. Acquaintances represent a source of social power, and the

more acquaintances you have the more powerful you are. Social glue: they spread the message

Mavens: Information specialists , Once they figure out how to get that great deal, they want to tell you about it too. Solves his own problems, his own emotional needs, by solving other people's problems. Have knowledge and the social skills to start word-of-mouth epidemics. A teacher and a student . In a social epidemic, Mavens are data banks. They provide the message.

Salesmen: Have the skills to persuade when we are unconvinced of what we are hearing. Little things can make as much of a difference as big things. Gives nonverbal clues that are more important than verbal clues. "Interactional synchrony": human interaction has a rhythmic physical dimension. We dance to each other's speech ,we're perfectly in harmony. Motor mimicry: we imitate each other's emotions as a way of expressing support and caring and, even more basically, as a way of communicating with each other. Emotion is contagious. "Senders" are very good at expressing emotions and feelings. They are far more emotionally contagious than the rest of us. Persuasion often works in ways that we do not appreciate. You draw others into your own rhythms and dictate the terms of the interaction.

Now my friends and readers wouldn’t you rather be a part of this

My Resignation

“My Resignation…”

I am hereby officially tendering my resignation as an adult. I have decided I would like to accept the responsibilities of an 8 year-old. I want to go to Mr Biggs and think that it’s a four star restaurant. I want to sail paper boats across a fresh muddy stream after a rain and make a sidewalk with rocks. I want to think delicious Gogo sweets are better than money because you can eat them. I want to lie under a big almond tree and run around with nearly no clothes on with my friends on a hot, sunny day. I want to return to a time when life was simple; When all you knew were colors, multiplication tables, and nursery rhymes, but that didn’t bother you, because you didn’t know what you didn’t know and you didn’t care. All you knew was to be happy because you were blissfully unaware of all the things that should make you worried or upset. I want to think the world is fair. That everyone is honest and good. I want to believe that anything is possible. I want to be oblivious to the complexities of life and be overly excited by the little things again. I want to live simple again. I don’t want my day to consist of computer crashes, mountains of office work, projects, depressing news, how to survive more days in the month than there is money in the bank, doctor bills, gossip, illness, gilts and loss of loved ones. I want to believe in the power of smiles, hugs, a kind word, truth, justice, peace, dreams, the imagination, mankind, and making sand castles in the sand. So... here’s my passbook and my bike-keys, keys to my room & shop and my account statements. I am going home to mummy and daddy. I am officially resigning from adulthood. And if you want to discuss this further, you’ll have to catch me first, cause.............. “I’m playing catcher again”

Today I will...

Today i will...

- Rise up early, cos no day is ever enough for the day’s work

- Give my best time to communion with God

- Compliment 3 people

- Make myself valuable to somebody

- Tackle a problem bigger than me

- Do at least one thing
that will take me out of my comfort zone

- Not lose an hour in the morning
and spend the whole day looking for it

- Smile a little more often
knowing that it’s good medicine

- Get my brain engaged
before I put my mouth in gear

- Read like my life depends on it,
work like that is the whole essence of today
and then play like there will be no tomorrow

- Know that
the place and time to be happy
is here and now respectively

- Judge this day
not by the harvest
but by the seeds I plant
